About Khajuraho

What to see in Khajuraho
The architecture of the temples are unique, being very different from the temple prototype of their period. The erotic carvings of temples, make it a must-see. Originally there were 85 temples, but many were destroyed by the British. Today, only 22 are in fair condition.

Temples of Khajuraho
Khajuraho temple complex site is one the most popular places both foreign and Indian tourists. Temples of Khajuraho hold the attention of a visitor with their sculptural art, which is so exquisite and intricate, that one cannot even dream of cloning it now. The artist’s creative instincts have beautifully captured various facets and moods of life in stone. The temples at Khajuraho are divided into three broad groups:

The Western Group
It is the largest, compact and centrally located group in Khajuraho, includes some of the most prominent monuments, built by the Chandela rulers. The Lakshmana Temple, the Matangesvara Temple and the Varaha Temple form one complex and the Visvanatha and Nandi temples are not far from this complex.

The Eastern Group
It comprises of five detached sub-groups in and around the present village of Khajuraho. The eastern group of monuments, situated in close proximity to the Khajuraho village, includes three Brahmanical temples known as Brahma, Vamana and Javari and three Jain temples, the Ghantai, Adinath and Parsvanath.

The Southern Group
It is the most distant one comprising of two main monuments near and across the Khudarnala. The southern group of monuments comprises the Duladeo and the Chaturbhuja temples. The Duladeo is about a kilometre south of the Khajuraho village and half a mile southwest of the Jain group of temples. The Chaturbhuja Temple is a mile further south and is close to the Khajuraho airport.

  1. Day 1 Arrival at Delhi International Airport

    Around Midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan City and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travelers. You are met by an Unlimited India representative and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Delhi.

  2. Day 2 Delhi - Jhasi (By Vande Bharat Train)

    In morning proceed for a combined sightseeing tour of New Delhi will begin with a drive through the prestigious streets of the Diplomatic Enclave and then on to India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan (President’s House) and Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar. Later drive to Delhi Railway Station or Domestic Airport to Catch flight or train to Jhasi.

    Arrive Jhasi, meet assist at the Railway Station / Airport by Unlimited India representative and transfer to the Hotel. Evening free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  3. Day3 Jhasi - Khajuraho (175 Kms /3 hrs)

    After breakfast, departure to Khajuraho. Checkinn to a pre booked hotel. After refreshment and a short rest, leave for a visit to the world-famous erotic temples. Visit Khajuraho sightseeing Kandriya Mahadeo Temple, Chausath Yogini, Chitrgupta etc. In the evening enjoy witness the spectacular sound & light show. Overnight stay at hotel.

  4. Day4 Kahjuraho - Orchha (170 Kms / 2.5 Hrs)

    Morning after breakfast proceed to sightseeing, After Khajuraho Sightseeing, drive to Orchha, the next stopover in your tour to temples of Central India. Upon arrival, check in to hotel and rest for a while. Later, proceed for a city sightseeing tour. Stay for the night at the hotel.

  5. Day5 Orchha – Gwalior (Around 120 Kms / 2.5 Hrs Drive)

    Check out from hotel after breakfast and proceed to Gwalior by road. Transfer to hotel upon arrival. Rest for a while and then leave for a city sightseeing tour. Drive to the hotel for night stay.

  6. Day6 Gwalior - Agra (130 Kms / 2.5 Hrs)

    After breakfast go for half day sightseeing tour of Gwalior and visit the majestic Gwalior Fort and Saas Bahu Temple. The Gwalior fort spreads out over an area of 3 square km, surrounded by concrete walls of sandstone. The Gwalior fort encloses three temples, six palaces and numerous water tanks.

    Sas-Bahu temple, or Sahastrabahu Temple, built by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty is a beautiful temple in Gwalior. The temple is a marvellous example of architectural brilliance and the intricate designing is worth noticing. The entire temple is adorned with carvings and a beautiful idol of Brahma, Vishnu and Saraswati.

    Late Afternoon drive to Agra. On arrival at Agra check-in at hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

  7. Day7 Sightseeing Agra

    Morning after breakfast proceed for city sightseeing tour of Agra. Visiting the world famous Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Also visit Agra Fort, containing the Pearl Mosque – the rusty and majestic red- sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and Emperor Akbar started the construction in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Night stay in Agra.

  8. Day 8 Agra - Delhi & Departure (200 Kms / 4 Hrs)

    Morning after breakfast drive to Delhi. Upon arrival departure transfer to the airport to board the flight for onward journey.

    Tour ends with the sweet memories.
