India is a Land with a long coastline measuring over 6,700 km, is washed by Arabian Sea to the West, the Bay of Bengal to the east and the Indian Ocean to the South. Flanking the Konkan / Malabar Coast of Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Goa, are the Western Ghats. While on the eastern side, a wider area stretches between Bay of Bengal and Eastern Ghats, called as the Coromondal Coast.
The Indian states and the Union Territories having coastal boundaries are Gujrat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Daman and Diu and lakshadweep Islands facing the Arabian Sea and West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands facing Bay of Bengal.
Of all these states and Union Territories, Gujarat, has the longest coastline. India is endowed with several beautiful beacehes, dotting its long coastline. Here we have given information about some of the beautiful beaches of India.
Port Blair, an expanse of sea, punctuated by tiny patches of land. The British with their peculiar sense of irony set up ‘hell’ in the cellular jails. But it is truly a paradise where the sea-washed air perks up your lungs the moment you step on the sand so white, we seriously suggest that you should carry a pair of sunglasses to cut the glare of the sun in your eyes.

Port Blair Tour :: Day : 1 ARRIVE PORT BLAIR
Arrive into Port Blair by flight ex. Chennai or Kolkata. On arrival transfer to your hotel for 4 nights stay. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the facilities of your hotel.
Port Blair Tour :: Day : 2 IN PORT BLAIR
In the morning take a tour to Port Blair, which will include a visit to the Central Jail, it is better known as Kala Pani. This three-storied prison, constructed by the British in 1906, is a pilgrim destination for freedom fighters. Also visit the Anthropological Museum where there are displays of tools, dress and way of life of the indigenous tribes. At the end of the tour visit Church and Temple. The afternoon is free.
Port Blair Tour :: Day : 3 IN PORT BLAIR
This morning enjoy a boat ride to North Bay Island OR Ross Island.
Port Blair Tour :: Day : 4 IN PORT BLAIR
This day is free for independent activities.

Transfer back to Port Blair airport for your return flight back to Kolkata or Chennai.
Jet Airways flies daily from Chennai (5.30 am) to Port Blair. Indian Airlines has four flights a week from Chennai to Port Blair. These flights return to their city of origin on the same day. All flights return to their city around two hours and cost around US$200 one way.
There are no trains on the Andaman or Nicobar Islands.There is however, a railway reservation office where you can make bookings for mainland trains. It`s near the Secretariat.

A ship also sails between Visakhapatnam (Andra Pradesh) and Port Blair, but rarely more than once every two months. Chennai to Port Blair is usually around 60 hours. Calcutta to Port Blair is around 56 hours and from Visakhapatnam it`s around 56 hours.
Prices are the same for both the Calcuta and Chennai routes.The Port Blair SCI office is in Aberdeen Bazaar .In Calcutta, the SCI office is on the 1st floor at 13 Strand Rd. In Chennai, the Directorate of shipping services is at Jawahar building, Rajaji Salai (opposite the Customs House). In Visakhapatnam, the office where you can find out if this route is operating is AV Bhanoji , opposite the main gate at the port.
